Holistic Medicine and homeopathy

We can all see that our health is influenced by physical, mental and emotional factors. Practitioners of Holistic Medicine and homeopathy take all these factors into consideration. There are many different approaches and most people will at least have heard of Herbalism, homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, flower essences and naturopathy which are all essential parts of treatment within holistic medicine. These do not necessarily replace conventional medicine or allopathic medicine (itself a relative newcomer over the last 100 years or so). However many people are realizing that the huge increase in western countries health budgets has in reality led to an alarming decline in the actual health of the population, and are, in increasing numbers opting for alternative ‘holistic’ medice and homeopathy based approaches.

Herbalism (often confused with Holistic Medicine and homeopathy) is probably the oldest of all holistic medicines. Herbs are used to stimulate the immune system to fight disease. Always consult an experienced practitioner before using any remedies, if used the wrong way herbs can and do produce unwanted side effects.

Homeopathy (sometimes linked as Holistic Medicine and homeopathy) is a energetic based holistic medicine which stimulate the body's immune system to heal itself and restore the natural balance of the body. Remedies are based on substances derived from plants, minerals, or animal products but are carefully diluted and 'sucussed' (that is, violently shaken) to specific potencies and can be bought in the recommended  ‘potency’ to be given according to specific guidelines. Homeopaths believe that administering an extremely dilute form of a substance similar to the one causing the symptoms stimulates the body to overcome the illness itself.

Other Holistic Medicines treatments include Flower Essences, Acupuncture, Chiropractic , Naturopathy and Glandular Therapy.
