A Context For Homeopathy Education


Homeopathy education had its beginning in the 19th century with Samuel Hahnemann's discovery of some basic healing principles. He said many things in the six editions of the ‘Organon' and in his other writings, but he showed throughout his education and life the ruthless and high integrity pursuit of three things:

  • Have no beliefs or fixed, limiting ideas.
  • Do what works best for the patient even if it breaks your own rules.
  • Always continue looking for what works even better for the patient.

Homeopathy underwent its testing and maturing in continual clinical development through education and experience during the 19th and 20th centuries. ‘Practical' Homeopathy grew out of the willingness to find out what worked in practice and to keep developing new ways of applying the basic healing principles in practice. The College of Practical Homeopathy firmly believes that our ‘practical' approach will set the standards for homeopathy and homeopathic education in the 21st Century.

All our college lecturers are highly experienced and practice what they teach. Our lecturers' enthusiasm and excitement make learning easy and homeopathic education enjoyable. The college of practical homeopathy offers flexible courses including professional training. We learned long ago that just teaching homeopathy as an academic subject does not work . As basic as it may seem, it is always true that we learn to do things by doing them. This is why we call our brand of homeopathic education ‘practical'.

We make a deliberate decision to trust our students to be sensible and to do with others only what they would do with themselves. We encourage and support our homeopathic students to learn how to monitor themselves, their progress, and to know when and how to ask for help. We give regular feedback and offer advice where needed. The main purpose of our assessment procedures, interviews, monitoring at our homeopathic college, is to help each student know where they are, what their strengths are, and in which areas they need to focus in order to develop their skills further.

At the College of Practical Homeopathy, we place great value in the power of mutual encouragement, the enthusiasm of caring people, and the energy of those who share a love of what they are doing. We look forward to sharing our awe of the deep purpose of homeopathic education, and the vision of its overwhelming importance for true health and for the simple enjoyment of being alive.
